Hurst United Parent/Family Responsibilities
Training:
Players must wear the appropriate color training attire on the correct evenings.
Players are expected to be on the field with shin guards, cleats, and a properly inflated, correctly sized ball at training time. If the player needs to change shoes or socks, they must arrive early in order to be ready to go.
Players must wear shin-guards and have plenty of water.
If the player will arrive late, must leave early, or will not be in attendance at training, it is the player’s responsibility to notify the coach at least 24 hrs. in advance.
Game Day:
Parents are to be positive regarding their child’s play on the field, their child’s coach, and their child’s teammates.
Parents are NOT to engage at any time with referees. The coach will handle all differences of opinion on calls and/or laws with the officials.
Hurst pride carries to the demeanor in which our teams represent themselves. Therefore, parents are expected NOT to engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with referees, coaches, or parents from our teams or any other team. No parent will at any time address a child from the opposing team. Concerns regarding the behavior of other teams should be sent in writing to the Hurst coach for him/her to pursue through the proper channels at a later time.
It is unsporting for spectators to call for a card from the referee. It is also unsporting for spectators to clap or cheer when a card is given.
Parents should not be heard from the sidelines except to cheer when appropriate. Players will be instructed by the coach only during the game. Parents will not coach from the sidelines.
Parents are never to step onto the field or address their player during games or half-time. In the event of an emergency, you must go through your team manager.
Concerns regarding your child should be addressed to the coach only (not manager or any other person) and should be discussed at a time mutually agreed upon by the coach. Discussions regarding concerns should never occur prior, during, or directly after a game.
Player responsibilities:
Players should arrive on the field promptly at the time designated by their coach or team manager.
It is the player’s responsibility to have all proper attire for each game. The alternate kit should always be brought to each game in case of discrepancies.
If the player will arrive late or must leave early from the game, it is the player’s responsibility to notify the coach at least 24 hrs. in advance.
Please remember that the success of any club is largely dependent on volunteers. Parents should plan to volunteer their services wherever possible for the betterment of all.
Players are not allowed to criticize other players (or themselves) on or off the field.
Bad feelings between players reduce good playing. It is the coach’s responsibility to instill acceptable attitudes at all times.
Players will play positions assigned by the coach and will show appropriate respect at all times.
Playing different positions allows players a balanced experience and teaches respect for teammates and other positions. Parents are expected to support coach’s decisions regarding field positions and other similar situations.
